BackupGoo uses common file formats to backup the files. Emails are saved as .eml, contacts as .csv and calendars as .ics. These files can be easily imported into most common applications, e.g. AppleMail or Outlook. Furthermore you can select - in BackupGoos settings - different formats for your Google Docs like .odt, .docx or .pdf.

Absolutely. You can configure a scheduled mode. This option is available in BackupGoos preferences which means that BackupGoo performs a backup each X hours. Automatically. Additionally, the time interval is configurable. Many users are adding BackupGoo to their startup folder and enable the scheduled mode with a 24h schedule. Each time you start your PC or Mac, BackupGoo performs a backup. And every 24h from then on. If you dont want to use the GUI there is a command line version of BackupGoo available. Using the command line version, its easy to set up a cron job e.g. that starts a backup each day.
All connections to Google to retrieve your data are established via secure https connections. The authorization is handled with OAuth2. BackupGoo does not need your Google password. Your password is only used to sign in to your Google account on the Google website. No password is ever transmitted to us. BackupGoo only opens secure connections to Google - and a connection to our update server to check your serial and for updates. You can use a free tool like "tcpdump" to verify that by yourself. BackupGoo is also certified as clean software by Softpedia and others.

To set up your personal Google account in BackupGoo, two steps are needed:- After opening up BackupGoo, enter your full account under the "Add account" field. - BackupGoo will now open a Browser tab to ask you for your account access. After granting access you are done and you can start with the backup.
When you manage your domain via G Suite its very easy to import all domain accounts to BackupGoo and back them up. Please create a new project in Googles Cloud Platform. No. The Google APIs Console is a web interface for managing and viewing traffic data, authentication, and billing information for the Google APIs that are used by e.g. BackupGoo. One project has fixed quotas and can manage several accounts. When you recognize in the API console that you hit the quotas, you can define more API projects and split your accounts.

Google provides excellent support for importing data into their services. BackupGoo in turn saves data in formats that Google can import easily. So BackupGoo does not offer any restore functionality as Google already provides it. Ways to restore the data can be seen in the Google manuals for Contacts, Calendar and Documents below. GMail is a bit different. To re-import your data we recommend the usage of Thunderbird (freely available) or Apple Mail (or any other standard compliant Email client). Simply connect the email application with your GMail account and drag and drop the email file (backed-up by BackupGoo) you want to restore on the folder where it should be placed. It is really straight forward and simple.One of the next versions of BackupGoo will provide a built-in restore function to browse and re-upload your data.
BackupGoo is build with Java and so it needs a java runtime environment. If your Java installation is missing or broken please (re)install it. If the error persists, you can try to minimize your virtual memory for BackupGoo. Therefore edit a file called "backupgoo.conf" in your BackupGoo install directory (e.g. "backupgoo/etc/backupgoo.conf"). In "backupgoo.conf" there is a line: default_options="--branding backupgoo -J-Xms500m -J-Xmx900m". Please change it to "-J-Xms32m -J-Xmx512m".
When you start BackupGoo the first time it has to download your whole mailbox, a huge amount of data. Google imposes quotas on their mail infrastructure to protect it (more information). This means you can only download a certain amount of data per day. When such a quota is reached, BackupGoo ends in this "unknown" state. When you see this state, please retry the back up a few hours later. No data will be lost and BackupGoo works incremental, which means that it starts at the end of the last backup.
The Vcard file is only one file which contains all contacts of your Google Account. But when you double-click this file in a Windows system, sometimes only one saved Contacts shows up. Thats because the standard program Windows uses to open the *.vcf file is tricking you. Open the file with an text editor like Notepad and you will see that all contacts are there. Otherwise you can simply re-import your contacts to GMail.
